TOTALLY AWESOME BOOK! All pieces I make from her designs sell so fast!! They are details steps and pics and totally customizable! I love this book!

Fantastic book. I'd recommend it to anyone looking to learn wire weaving. I had to buy the book. My husband a jewelry artist of more than 30 years who does not appreciate wire wrap or wire weave, kept looking over my shoulder when I was looking at Lisa Barth's latest designs and uttering words like, "wow! I like that one, it's sexy!". A jewelry artist in my own right and a teacher, I was getting a little jealous. He always complimented me on my work but never said my work was "sexy". I had to do something! I bought the book and I would recommend it to eveyone. Bring the sexy into your wire work. Lisa Barth does introduce wire weaving to anyone who is willing to learn. Her step by step is easy to follow and soon your significant others will be saying, "wow, that's sexy" too.I first saw her work on facebook. I stumbled upon one of her pieces on a facebook group. I preordered this book way back in April after having purchased a few of Lisa's tutorials from Etsy. I have waited patiently for 6 months and I am so glad to finally have it!Nitty gritty about the book: The tutorials are very well laid out starting with a brief description of the tools you will need, wire, their gauges, and which tempers she prefers to use in her weaving and why. She then teaches you about each weave she will use in the book as well as her method for teaching them to you. She includes recipes for both lump and gel liver of sulfur and while she does not show all of her projects finished with this patina, you can see what kind of beauty it can add to the depth of a piece when the steps she gives you are done. Some of her pieces are left to patina on their own naturally and look just as stunning. There is also a whole section devoted to some of the techniques she uses to finish her pieces (which you can see just on the one cuff on the cover as an example.) She shows how to make her style of "gooseneck" hook closures as well as the way she embellishes her jewelry with beads.The book is then separated into project chapters by difficulty (beginner, intermediate, and advanced) with each difficulty having 4 projects in each and the advanced one having 5 projects. Followed lastly by a smaller gallery showcase of her work. Now I do say "smaller gallery" of her work because in the 3 years that I have been following her work, she has amassed a crazy amount of work that could fit many, many more pages than they had included. I wish they would have included just a few more of her works as her work is just incredible.For those that may be intimidated by the thought of trying this style of wirework out, let me say this: Lisa has made it very, very approachable! There are step by step pictures and thorough explanations for each tutorial. Each and every one of these projects is doable. There are projects that use cabochons and instead of using cabochons that you will never see that size of or a cabochon that you will never ever find, Lisa not only uses somewhat standard size cabochons, she tells you how to upsize or downsize the pattern of the wirework to make it fit the cabochon that you are using. This, to me, is highly important!If you are just starting out and this is your first time wire working and you want to see results fast, I would recommend starting with Spiral Woven Hoops. It is the very first project in the book and it was one of the projects that I had happened to purchase from her Etsy store. They do not take long to make, but they look like you spent hours on. They also teach you some really great basics on weaving and controlling your wire.There are not enough great things that I can say about the book and the author. There were not a lot of negatives I could say other than what I had pointed out, such as wishing there were a few more pictures of some of her work. I would have loved for them to include, for instance, a couple variations the "Mirror Image Bracelet." This bracelet has the ability to have so many variations depending on stone placement and weave placement based on just how you weave it. I learned that just by seeing some of Lisa's work on other sites.I hope my review helps someone who may be on the fence on whether to get this book or not. For me, it was worth every second I waited for it. :)

I am almost 80 and never wear jewelry but Lisa Barth's designs sold me on trying to work in wire. Some hints (for old guys at least): start with the first project and do it enough times until you learn to produce uniform and error free results (It is not as easy as the pictures suggest). Find a woman who will wear your work. There is nothing like an unsolicited complement and the response of "Oh, he made that for me." Do not experiment until you can do the easy stuff just right - every great artist started by copying others first. Do not use the excuse that your arthritic fingers aren't up to it. Doing this will keep them limber. Do not try anything in silver until you do it well in copper. You can only store so many little ingots of scrap silver for future casting projects!

This book is EXCELLENT! Beginner, intermediate and advanced instructions. Great pictures for each project. You will want to make everything in the book. This was my 1st attempt at wire weaving, but I have been doing wire wrap for a few years.

I was very excited for this book to come out, as I really admire Barth's wirewrapping techniques. But this book is not for novice wire wrappers. The photos do not show the length of wire required or how to splice on more when you run out. I love the look of the finished projects, but am so bummed this instruction guide won't get me there. Even making and installing the clasps is glossed over, and her finishing techniques are what make the designs special. I would have given this book 4 stars had each project been given the actual number of steps it takes to complete the project and finish (LOS, polishing, and waxing). If you don't already know these things, this book isn't for you.

I have made simple wire wrapped jewelry for many years and always enjoyed it, however, these are taking me to a whole new level! I have made the first two projects after doing the practice exercises.This tutorial is clear and concise. The photographs are exceptional, making every step of each process easy to understand. The practice exercises are perfect for learning each technique as a stand alone step. I can't emphasize enough how I important I consider them to be.The pieces created by the combination of these steps are truly lovely and unique articles of jewelrywhich one would be proud to wear or give as a gift.I highly recommend this book!

This book is EXCELLENT! Beginner, intermediate and advanced instructions. Great pictures for each project. You will want to make everything in the book. This was my 1st attempt at wire weaving, but I have been doing wire wrap for a few years.

I was very excited for this book to come out, as I really admire Barth's wirewrapping techniques. But this book is not for novice wire wrappers. The photos do not show the length of wire required or how to splice on more when you run out. I love the look of the finished projects, but am so bummed this instruction guide won't get me there. Even making and installing the clasps is glossed over, and her finishing techniques are what make the designs special. I would have given this book 4 stars had each project been given the actual number of steps it takes to complete the project and finish (LOS, polishing, and waxing). If you don't already know these things, this book isn't for you.

I have made simple wire wrapped jewelry for many years and always enjoyed it, however, these are taking me to a whole new level! I have made the first two projects after doing the practice exercises.This tutorial is clear and concise. The photographs are exceptional, making every step of each process easy to understand. The practice exercises are perfect for learning each technique as a stand alone step. I can't emphasize enough how I important I consider them to be.The pieces created by the combination of these steps are truly lovely and unique articles of jewelrywhich one would be proud to wear or give as a gift.I highly recommend this book!

My nine year old LOVES this book!! He's gone through every choose-your-own-scenario at least twice! He can actually quote lines from the book. It's provided great conversation for us, and he asks lots of questions about the war. Just advanced notice... the reader is a character in the book (soldier, doctor, pilot, etc), and several of the scenarios that the reader chooses will end up with their character dead. It is definitely an accurate portrayal of what could happen during WWII. It was certainly fabulous to see a third grader so into a historical book that he couldn't put it down!

My 10 yr old loves these books and he's not a big reading fan. These give him short reading, with different story endings. He loves learning history this way.

I have sent many of these interactive children's books to my grandson and he has enjoyed each one of them. The interactive keeps him involved in the story because each time you or he reads the book it changes because of the choices the the child makes at different stages throught the story.
